Dubai: Naila Kiani, a renowned high-altitude mountaineer of global acclaim, reached yet another pinnacle in her illustrious career today. At precisely 7:50 am, or 9:35 am local time in Nepal on May 5, Kiani triumphantly conquered Makalu, the fifth highest peak in the world, marking her 11th successful ascent of a mountain towering above 8,000 meters. This feat reinforces her status as one of the leading mountaineers and underscores her exceptional skill and unwavering resilience.

 An unparallel achievement 

Hailing from Pakistan and residing in Dubai for nine years, Kiani is the first Pakistani woman to conquer 11 of the world's 14 highest peaks above 8,000 meters, a testament to her unparalleled determination. Her arduous final ascent of Makalu unfolded overnight and continues into the day, as she descends swiftly ahead of an impending snowstorm forecasted for this afternoon.

Makalu's formidable elevation of 8,485 meters poses a daunting challenge, yet Kiani's historic ascent showcases her sheer endurance and unparalleled determination.

Moreover, Kiani's remarkable achievement also etches her name in the annals of Pakistani mountaineering history, as she becomes the first woman from Pakistan to scale Makalu. Her remarkable speed in achieving this milestone sets records, establishing her as the fastest Pakistani, regardless of gender, to conquer the peak in just under three years. Recognizing her exceptional contributions to sports, Kiani was recently bestowed with the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, the highest civilian honor for a female athlete in Pakistan.
